As part of RUSAL’s social and educational program “School of Urban Change”, an online course “Social Design” was launched.
The course consists of several educational modules devoted to the creation of social projects, their management, as well as the evaluation and monitoring of social initiatives. Students will learn how to identify a current social problem, develop a plan to solve it, form a team and draw up a project budget, as well as gradually implement their idea and monitor the results obtained.
The Social Design course program is suitable for representatives of non-profit organizations, civil activists and simply caring people who have an idea on how to improve life in their city, how to help those in need, or how to solve a socially significant problem.
“First of all, this course will be useful to those who plan to take part in grant competitions, including RUSAL. The acquired knowledge and skills will help course graduates develop a high-quality social project ready to receive competitive funding, as well as effectively implement it. Thanks to the new project evaluation module, students will have the opportunity to properly analyze the results of their initiative in order to scale, replicate and develop already completed projects,” says Olga Solodilova, executive director of the RUSAL Center for Social Programs.
You can take the “Social Design” course until November 30, 2019 on the website of the RUSAL Center for Social Programs. Upon completion of training, participants have the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Advanced Training. In this case, the cost of the course will be 900 rubles. If a certificate is not required, then training is free.
Also on the page of the online school of urban changes, the courses “Social Entrepreneurship”, “Corporate Volunteering”, “Communities and Public Spaces” are constantly open throughout the year. The courses are free for everyone.
The online course “Social Design” is implemented using a grant from the President of the Russian Federation for the development of civil society provided by the Presidential Grants Foundation. The program is administered by the RUSAL Center for Social Programs and the RUSAL Center for Innovation in the Social Sphere.

The Center for Social Programs (CPC) was founded in 2004 with the purpose of managing social projects organized and financed by RUSAL. Geographically, the organizations are located in Russia and Ukraine. The main office of the TsSP is located in Krasnoyarsk, and its representative offices are in the Republic of Khakassia, Irkutsk, Kemerovo and Sverdlovsk regions, Moscow and Nikolaev region.
The key task of the fund is to select and support the most useful and promising social initiatives.

Today, the CSP operates under 4 social programs: “RUSAL Territory”, “It’s Easy to Help”, “Formula of the Future” and “Social Entrepreneurship”. All of them are aimed at improving the quality of social infrastructure, developing the urban environment, involving residents in socially beneficial activities and supporting initiatives in the development of social entrepreneurship.
In the course of its actions, the foundation builds partnerships between government authorities, public organizations and concerned residents. The center organizes joint events, conducts educational programs and develops mechanisms for implementing socially significant projects.
The CSP assesses the level of socio-economic development of regions and, based on the data obtained, identifies global problems and needs of the population.
The center's employees advise potential participants in RUSAL's social programs, help them find like-minded people to jointly implement projects and share their experience of working with local communities. The center currently has connections with more than 1,000 partner organizations.
